
Sterling Warner-Savage and Sean Roth Set School Records on Day Two of ACC Outdoor Championships

DURHAM, N.C. – Sterling Warner-Savage and Sean Roth achieved school record performances on day two of the 2022 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Duke's Morris Williams Stadium Friday in Durham, N.C.

Entering the final day of competition, the women stand in fourth place with 38.5 points, while the men sit it seventh with 30.

In the men pole vault, Roth set the outdoor school record for the third time this season with a mark of 5.33m (17-5.75) for second, while Ty McPhail surpassed his previous outdoor personal best on two separate heights with a third-place bar of 5.13m (16-10) as the pair earned first-team honors. The mark by Roth replaces his own previous record of 5.23m (17-1.75) set at the Clark Wood Invitational.

The second record fell in the men's 100-meter when Sterling Warner-Savage won his heat with a third-fastest preliminary of time of 10.27 seconds to advance to the finals on Saturday. The time surpasses Warner-Savage's 10.30 seconds in preliminaries at the Clark Wood Invitational.

Paul Kallenberg closed out the final day of the men's decathlon with a fourth-place total of 7077 points for second-team honors. The freshman set personal bests in five events to achieve a debut total that ranks as the third-best performer mark in program history.

Bryan Hudson led three Cardinals in the men's shot put finals. Hudson recorded a personal-best throw of 17.97m (58-11.5) for sixth and second-team honors, while Cade Richeson and Jorge Contreras contributed to the men's team total with eight-place finishes of 17.70m (58-1).

Morgan Bentley and Rachel Darden added to the women's team score with their performances in the women's triple jump. Bentley posted a second attempt of 12.36m (40-6.75) for eighth and Darden recorded a mark of 12.10m (39-8.5) on her first attempt of the finals for ninth.

Action resumes Saturday with the men's discus at 11:00 a.m. ET, while the women's 4x100-relay will be the first event on the track at 5:00 p.m. ET.
