LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 41-ranked Florida State University on Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

In doubles, Louisville seniors Dina Chaika and Chelsea Sawyer took court 2 6-3. Florida State responded with a 6-3 win on court 3 to even the doubles score. The pairing of Sasha Gorchanyuk and Rhea Verma upset No. 48-ranked Petra Hule and Lesedi Jacobs 6-3 on court 1 to clinch the doubles point for the Cards.

In singles, the Cards put up a fight with two matches going into a third set and others finishing close as the match was called earlier when Florida State clinched the fourth point. At the No. 1 spot, Rhea Verma took No. 6-ranked Petra Hule to a first set tiebreaker but ultimately lost the match 7-6 (7-2) 6-2. On courts 4 and 6, Tatiana Simova and Dina Chaika were contending in a third set before Florida State clinched the match.

Louisville returns to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday to face Miami at noon for senior day.

The loss drops Louisville to 8-11 (0-10 ACC) and Florida State moves to 11-8 (4-6 ACC) with the win.
