The Cardinals return home for competition after setting four outdoor school records at the Indiana Invitational last weekend. Gabriela Leon earned ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week honors after re-establishing a women's outdoor pole vault record that she bested two weeks prior at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Mar. 26. Leon cleared a facility-best and first-place height of 4.57m (15-0) that ranks first in the ACC, second nationally, and tied for 14th on the all-time NCAA outdoor performers list.
Synclair Savage set the women's long jump outdoor record with a second-place clearance of 6.44m (21-1.5) that surpassed a previous program best of 6.39m by Alexis Gibbons in 2019. The mark ranks first in the ACC and eleventh nationally. In the men's pole vault, Zach Frye and Sean Roth tied the outdoor school record after each cleared a bar of 5.12m (16-9.5). The height stands as a personal-best for Frye, while Roth has now achieved a mark of 5.12m (16-9.5) twice after previously setting the men's outdoor pole vault record at the Louisville Invitational in 2021.
Seven Cardinals are ranked in the ACC's top-three in their respective events. Leon and Savage rank first in the women's pole vault and women's long jump after their record performances at the Indiana Invitational, while Katie Martin stands third in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.61 at the Tiger Classic. Louisville owns the spot in the men's and women's high jump after impressive performances at the Louisville Invitational. Trey Allen at 2.21m (7-3) and Luke Nichols (7-1.75) hold the top-two men's marks and Emily Scott claims the top women's height of 1.81m (5-11.25). Cade Richeson stands third in the men's shot put with a heave of 18.49m (60-8) at the Louisville Invitational, while Roth and Frye also rank third in the men's pole vault with their records at the Indiana Invitational last weekend.
