Cardinals Drop Match to No. 15 Virginia

LOUISVILLE, Ky – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 15 Virginia on Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
In doubles, Virginia took the first doubles match, winning 6-1 on Court 3. Sasha Gorchanyuk and Rhea Verma gave No. 35 Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh all they could handle but ultimately fell 6-4 to give Virginia the doubles point.
Virginia extended its lead to 6-0 after winning five singles matches but Louisville managed to get on the board when Tatiana Simova defeated Amber O'Dell 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.
The loss drops Louisville to 8-7 (0-6 ACC) and Virginia improves to 12-4 (4-3 ACC) with the win.
Louisville will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday to face Virginia Tech at noon.
