
Sterling Warner-Savage Wins 60-Meter at ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sterling Warner-Savage clocked a time of 6.64 seconds to take the men's 60-meter on the final day of competition at the 2022 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
A total of five Cardinals earned first-team All-ACC distinction, while five also recieved second-team All-ACC honors. The men finished in eighth, while the women placed tenth in the final team standings.
The win marks the first conference title for Warner-Savage after a third-place finish last season. The senior is now a three-time All-ACC honoree.
Cade Richeson and Sean Roth earned second-team All-ACC distinction with their field performances Saturday, Richeson opened the final day of action a sixth-place and personal-best throw of 18.28m (59-11.75) in the men's shot put. Battling back from injury all season, Roth cleared a season-best height of 5.16m (16-11) to finish sixth in the men's pole vault
Eight athletes achieved personal-bests on the final day of competition. In addition to Richeson, Adar Sheere, Bryan Hudson, and Jorge Contreras recorded personal-best marks in the men's shot put. Ty McPhail and Grigoris Nikolaou continued the field success with personal best clearances in the men's pole vault and triple jump, respectively.
Claire Bushur posted a personal-best mark of 14.46m (47-5.25) in the women's shot put, while Rachel Darden accomplished her best clearance of 12.24m (40-2) in the women's triple jump.
The women's 4x400-meter relay of Katie Martin, Je'Nyia Burton, Brooke Weimer, and Kiyah Yeast turned in a season-best time of 3:42.19 to close out the conference meet.
Select Cardinals will make a return to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships from March 11-12.
