Cardinals Fall 6-1 to No. 14 Duke in ACC Opener

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 in its ACC opener to No. 14 Duke on Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Cardinals fought but ultimately lost their first doubles point of the season. Rhea Verma and Sasha Gorchanyuk fell 6-4 to Georgia Drummy/Karolina Berankova and Dina Chaika and Chelsea Sawyer were defeated 6-4 at the No. 3 slot.
Louisville dropped five of the six singles matches with the one win coming from Sawyer as she defeated former NCAA runner up Kelly Chen 7-6 (7-3), 0-6, 10-4.
Up next, Louisville will host its second ranked opponent of the weekend in No. 1 North Carolina at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday at noon.
