Cards Fall to No. 1 Carolina

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 1 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Louisville drops to 7-3 with the loss and the top-ranked Tar Heels improve to 13-0.

The Cardinals fell in doubles at No. 2 and No. 3 to give Carolina the early 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Chelsea Sawyer defeated No. 25-ranked Carson Tanguilig 6-1, 6-2 to tie the match at 1-1. Carolina earned singles wins on Courts 4 and 6 to extend the lead to 3-1.

Louisville battled in the final three singles matches. Tatiana Simova split the first two sets and fell 6-2 in the third at No. 5. At No. 1 singles, Andrea Di Palma gave No. 7-ranked Cameron Morra all she could handle, winning the first set 6-4. Morra survived the second set 7-6 (4) and held on to win 10-7 in the final pro set tiebreaker. UofL's Rhea Verma was the last Cardinal standing, She dropped the first set 7-6 (4), won the second 6-4 before falling 10-2 to No. 35-ranked Fiona Crawley.
