Elliott and Kouijzer selected to first team, Plumb named to second team
Greensboro, N.C. – Three University of Louisville field hockey players earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors as announced by the league office on Monday. Sasha Elliott and Julie Kouijzer were selected to the first team while Aimee Plumb was named to the second team.
Â
Elliott (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) earned first team honors after leading the conference with an .800 save percentage and standing tied first with five shutouts. The graduate senior transfer from VCU has started every game for the Cardinals and carries a 1.27 goals against average. She was named the ACC and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Defensive Player of the Week twice this season. While at VCU, Elliott was a two-time NFHCA All-South Region and All-Atlantic 10 honoree.
Â
Kouijzer takes home her second straight ACC first team nod. The senior defender from Amsterdam, The Netherlands has tallied a career-best six goals while helping the Cardinals defense produce five shutouts. She was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 6 and was selected to the NFHCA Senior Team. The team co-captain and four-year starter is also a 2021 NFHCA third team All-American and two-time All-West Region selection.
Â
Plumb earns her second honor after being named to the first team in 2021. The junior forward from Canterbury, Kent, England, leads the Cardinals in scoring with eight goals, seven assists and 23 points - all career highs. Five of Plumb's eight goals have stood as game winners, ranking third in the ACC in that category. Plumb was named to the NFHCA Preseason Watch List after earning NFHCA All-America third team and All-West Region first team honors in 2021.
Â
The eighth-ranked Cardinals will open ACC tournament play on Tuesday at 6 p.m. when they take on No 5 Virginia in the quarterfinals.
