NOTE CARDS
• The Cardinals bring a 12-3 record and a 1-3 mark in ACC play into the weekend after a 4-0 win against Ball State on Sunday. Prior to that, Louisville defeated No. 24 Duke 2-1 in a shootout on Friday at Trager Stadium.
• Friday's contest at Syracuse will mark Louisville's eighth game against a ranked opponent this season. The Cards are 5-3 in those games with wins against then-No. 4 Michigan, No. 13 Princeton, No. 11 Penn State, No. 16 Liberty and No. 24 Duke.
• Sasha Elliott is the reigning ACC and NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week - she has earned both honors twice this season.
• Sunday's victory against Ball State extended Louisville's non-conference win streak to 11 games this season.
• The Cardinals have registered 30 goals this season with 10 different players contributing to the total. Six players have registered multiple goals.
• Aimee Plumb leads the team with 19 points (6G, 7A). She and Julie Kouijzer are atop the team standings with six goals apiece.
• Five of Plumb's six goals have stood as game winners against Penn State, Penn, Fairfield and Liberty. She stands second in the ACC in game-winning goals.
• Plumb has contributed a goal or an assist in each of the last three games - and in all but two of Louisville's wins this season.
• Graduate transfer Sasha Elliott (12-3) carries a 0.92 goals against average, standing second in the ACC and fifth in the NCAA. She also leads the nation with an .846 save percentage.
• Plumb was recently named to the NFHCA Collegiate Watch List. She was also selected to the 2022 Preseason All-ACC Field Hockey team in a vote by the league's seven head coaches. The Cardinals were picked to finish fifth in the regular season.

Head Coach Justine Sowry
2021 ACC Coach of the Year Justine Sowry is in her 12th season at the helm. During her time at Louisville, she has guided the Cardinals to 164 wins, six NCAA tournament appearances reaching the quarterfinals twice and advancing to the semifinals for the first time in program history in the 2020-21 season.
• Under Sowry's tutelage, Louisville has tallied three conference titles, including back-to-back ACC regular season crowns (2020, 2021) as well as a pair of runner-up finishes in the ACC Championships.

Series Record: Syracuse leads 12-9
Last Meeting: Oct. 29, 2021 - Louisville won 2-1 at Trager Stadium
2021 Recap: Filippa Niebuhr put the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the first quarter and Erica Cooper extended the lead to 2-0 with an early third quarter score.
• The Orange cut the lead in half midway through the third quarter with a goal from Hailey Bitters, but the Cardinals prevailed to gain sole possession of the ACC regular season title.
Scouting the Orange: Syracuse enters the weekend with a 12-3 overall record and a 2-2 mark in ACC play, placing the Orange tied for fourth in league standings.
• Syracuse is coming off of a 6-1 loss to top-ranked North Carolina last weekend, but prior to that, the Orange was riding a four-game win streak which included victories against then-No. 18 JMU and No. 16 Boston College.
• Quirine Comans leads the team with 12 goals and has dished out seven assists for 31 points. Charlotte de Vries has also talled 31 points with 11 goals and nine assists.
• Brooke Borzymowski (12-3) carries a 1.06 goals against average and a .741 save percentage.

Series Record: First meeting
Scouting the Big Red: Cornell brings a 7-6 overall record into the weekend prior to an Ivy League matchup against Brown on Friday.
• The Big Red is coming off of a 2-1 win against Lock Haven on Saturday, Prior to that, Cornell lost a tight 2-1 match to Syracuse.
• Caroline Ramsey leads the team with seven goals while Aerin Parker (7-6) carries a 1.77 goals against average.

CARDS FOURTH IN NFHCA COACHES POLL
UofL stands at No. 4 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association rankings released on Oct. 18. The Cards jumped three spots after a 2-0 weekend with wins against then-No. 24 Duke and Ball State.
• This marks the fifth time the Cards have appeared in the top five this season. Louisville was ranked in the top five from Sept. 6 through Sept. 27 reaching as high as No. 4 twice. The Cardinals started the 2022 campaign at No. 9 in the preseason poll.
• UofL has been ranked among the top 10 for the last 38 ranking periods spanning back to the 2019 season when they appeared at No. 8 on Sept. 10.
• Louisville has now spent 103 consecutive weeks in the top 20 in the nation dating back to the 2013 season.
