
Louisville Posts Five Wins at Blazer Invitational

Trey Allen and Jeremiah Willis continued to collect first-place finishes after impressive performances in the season opener. Allen recorded the Cardinals' first win of the meet after clearing a mark of 2.11m (6-11) to take the men's high jump, while Willis soared to new heights with a personal-best 7.71m (25-3.5) on his final attempt to claim his second long jump victory in as many meets. The mark ranks seventh on the all-time indoor performance list.
Katie Martin placed second in the women's 500-meter with a personal-best time of 1:14.47, while Styliana Ioannidou finished first in her high jump debut with a mark of 1.81m (5-11.25) that ranks fifth all-time in program history.
The women's pole vault saw a pair of medal finishes by Gabriela Leon and Aliyah Welter. Leon took the event in a jump off after clearing a height of 4.21m (13-9.75), while Welter registered 4.01m (13-1.75) for third. Ty McPhail placed second in the men's pole vault after posting a 4.95m (16-2.75) mark.
The Cardinals picked up a pair of personal bests from Bryan Hudson and Claire Bushur in the shot put. On his second attempt, Hudson posted a throw of 17.19m (56-4.75) to earn him a top-five finish. Bushur followed on the women's side with a heave of 13.06m (42-10.25). Katherine Coffey shattered her previous personal-best by almost two meters, recording a heave of 19.44m (63-9.5) on her final attempt in the women's weight throw.
Ian Kibiwot made his indoor debut with a first-place finish at 8:24.89 as the Cardinals claimed four of the top five spots in the men's 3000-meter. Sterling Warner-Savage made his season debut with a second-place finish time of 6.75 in the men's 60-meter.
The Cardinals will be back in action next week January 21-22 when they travel to Blacksburg, Va. for the Hokie Invitational.
