Louisville Men's Golf Finishes Fifth at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf team carded an 11-under-par on the final day of the tournament to finish in fifth place at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Playing in its first tournament of the fall, the Cardinals shot a combined 26-under-par (273-272-269=814) to finish 18 shots off the lead of ACC foe Georgia Tech, which won the tournament at 44-under-par. Clemson finished at shot behind the leaders at 43-under-par and Auburn was third at 31-under.
All six players who competed for the Cardinals shot even-par or better.
Senior Jiri Zuska posted the round of the day by firing a 6-under-par 64 to finish in a tie with teammate Walker Franklin for 12th place overall. Zuska opened the day with five consecutive birdies and recorded two more birdies on the back nine to post the best round of his career. He finished the tournament with a 10-under-par 200. Walker Franklin, who was playing as an individual, also posted a 10-under-par 200. Franklin shot a 66 on Sunday to post his first top-15 finish.
Chris Francoeur, playing in his first event since transferring from Rhode Island, tied for 24th with teammate Max Kennedy after shooting a 5-under-par 205. Francoeur shot a 68 on Sunday, while Kennedy carded an even-par 70. Pierce Grieve finished with a 3-under-par 207 to end the tournament in a tie for 37th, while Nick Tenuta shot an even-par 210 to place 52nd.
The Cardinals return to action on Sept. 24-25 at the Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
