
ITA Names Four to Academic Scholar Athlete List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --Â The University of Louisville women's tennis team was named as a 2021 Division I Women ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams by The Intercollegiate Tennis Association and four Cardinals were named Scholar-Athletes.
UofL's Dina Chaika, Nina Jovic, Andrea Di Palma and Chelsea Sawyer were named as individuals for the Cardinals.

Student-athletes competing in women's tennis continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2021, 1505 Division I Women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 210 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. Compared to the previous year, 75 more Division I women received the distinction of ITA Scholar-Athlete.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

In 2020-21, Mark Beckham, UofL head coach, once again had two doubles teams in the national rankings with Raven Neely and Tatiana Simova (as high as No. 13) excelling as a duo along with Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma ranking among the best in the country. Freshman phenom Andrea Di Palma broke into the singles national rankings as well. The team spent three weeks in the national ranking and ended the regular season with a 9-14 record. Andrea Di Palma earned Third Team All-ACC honors after posting a 10-6 record at No. 2 singles. Dina Chaika went 7-12 in doubles. Sawyer posted an 11-8 mark in singles and Jovic was 2-15 at No. 1.

- have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
