
Pendolino,Schneider, Ayars Selected for USA Field Hockey Camps

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –University of Louisville field hockey players Sofia Pendolino and Katie Schneider were selected to attend the USA Field Hockey 2022 U-21 Selection Camp and alumna Carter Ayars will attend the 2022 Development Camp. The announcement was made today by USA Hockey following the 2021 Young Women's National Championship held last week.

Both Selection Camps will take place in December 2021 or January 2022, with more information to be confirmed. Based on their performance at the Selection Camps, these athletes are up for evaluation to be named to the 2022 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Development Team.

Pendolino (Hummelstown, Pa.) recently completed her freshman season at UofL. The back/midfielder played in 13 games with two starts and helped the Cardinal defense produce four shutouts. Pendolino was previously selected for the USA Field Hockey Rise Women's National Team, USWNT U-19 England Tour and was a member of the U-17 national team.

Schneider, a rising junior from San Diego, Calif., stood third on the team with six goals and dished out an assist for 13 points in the 2020-21 season. The forward notched the game-winning goals against Duke and Virginia. She also tallied both of Louisville's goals against top-ranked North Carolina in the finals of the ACC Championship. Schneider was a member of the USA Field Hockey U-19 Tam from 2018-19.

Ayars (Wilmington, Del.) played for the Cardinals from 2016-19. The defender earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) third team honors in 2019 and was a two-time NFHCA All-West Region selection. She was previously a member of the USWNT U-21 team.
