Louisville Will Face UCF in 2021-22 ITA Kick-Off Weekend

LOUISIVLLE, KY – With the 2021 season in the books, the University of Louisville men's tennis program is looking ahead to next year, securing part of its 2021-22 schedule with the recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend draft complete.
The Cardinals will travel to Orlando, Florida to face host 11th ranked UCF in the first round of the event which takes place January 30-31. No. 19 Stanford and No. 23 Tulane will face off in the other first round match. The winner of the first-round matches will meet to determine which team advances to ITA National Indoor Championships which take place Feb. 18-22 in Seattle, Washington
About Louisville
UofL finished the 2020-21 season ranked No. 51 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings. Louisville posted a 9-12 overall record and a 3-8 mark in ACC play. UofL placed a pair of players on the All-ACC teams. Fabien Salle was named to the second team and Sergio Hernandez was a third team selection.
About the ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The top 15 teams from last season's final Oracle/ITA rankings earned the right to host a four-team bracket as part of ITA Kickoff Weekend for the upcoming season. The 15 winners from each region travel to Washington for ITA National Indoors in February. The Knights have never reached ITA National Indoors.
About the ITA Kick-Off Draft
Teams in the ITA Kickoff Draft are assigned pick numbers based on their finish in the previous season's final Oracle/ITA rankings and regional finishes. Stanford selected to be the two seed in the Knights' region with the No. 4 pick of the draft while Tulane used the No. 8 pick to be the weekend's No. 3 seed. Louisville elected to be the fourth seed with the 34th pick in the draft.
