
Cards Wrap Up NCAA East Preliminary Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Louisville track and field program completed competition at the 2021 NCAA East Preliminary Round Saturday afternoon at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
On the final day of the prelims, senior Renate van Tonder finished tied for 18th in the high jump, clearing 1.72m (5-7.75).
After four days of action, the Cardinals will send four athletes to the NCAA Championships. Aliyah Welter will represent the Louisville women in the pole vault.
On the men's side Trey Allen will compete in the high jump after a sixth-place finish and a personal-best in the NCAA Prelims. Albert Kosgei earned his second trip to the NCAA Championship after winning his heat in the 3000m Steeplechase and finished sixth in the event. Adar Sheere also notched his second NCAA Championship bid with an eighth place showing in the discus throw.
"We are really proud of the way our squads handled the 2020-21 season," said UofL head coach Dale Cowper. "They have continued to grind through an especially challenging year and we are looking forward to seeing what Aliyah, Albert, Adar, and Trey can accomplish in Eugene at next month's NCAA Finals."
The qualifiers will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.

Women High Jump
T18 – Renate van Tonder, 1.72m (5-7.75)
