Kosgei Earns Bronze Medal in 3000m Steeplechase at ACC Outdoor Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. – Albert Kosgei led the University of Louisville track and field with a bronze medal showing in the 3000 steeplechase in the 2021 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility in Raleigh, N.C. With two days of competition in the book, the women stand in fourth place with 36.5 points while the men are eighth with 20.5 points.

Friday Highlights
On the men's side, the Cardinals earned three all-ACC honors and achieved seven personal bests on the day.
Kosgei wrapped up Friday's events with a bronze medal in the 3000 steeplechase with a career-best time of 8:34.38, shaving four seconds off of his previous best mark. The senior's all-ACC first team performance stands 11th on Louisville's all-time list.
Justin Lehmkuhler finished fourth in the decathlon with a personal-best score of 5997 to earn second team all-ACC honors. The freshman opened Friday's event by winning the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.50. He went on to post career-best marks in the pole vault (3.90m/12-9.5), the javelin (43.23m/141-10) and the 1500m (5:06.33).
Sterling Warner-Savage won his 100m heat with a time of 10:46 to qualify for Saturday's final. His time stands fourth in Louisville's record book in the event.
In shot put, Christian Buckley won his flight and finished fifth, earning second team all-ACC honors with a personal-best throw of 18.18m (59-7.75). The mark also stands sixth on Louisville's all-time list.
Cayden Spencer-Thompson turned in a personal-best leap of 15.11m (49-7) to finish eighth in the triple jump.
For the women, Emma Bryant clocked a new personal best time of 10:33.50 in the 3000 steeplechase, improving her previous mark by more than seven seconds to finish 20th in the race.
Raeli Howerton's career-best mark of 41.42m (153-5) was good for a ninth-place finish in the javelin throw.
Brooke Raglin equaled her season best with a 11.57 time in the 100m prelims to qualify for the final which will take place on Saturday. Her prelim time stands tied for sixth on Louisville's all-time list.
