
Kosgei, Leon Named ACC Track and Field Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C.– The University of Louisville's Gabriela Leon has been named ACC Women's Field Performer of the Week and Albert Kosgei earned Men's Track Performer of the Week honors as announced by the conference office on April 28. Â

Leon established a career-best and a new school record while winning the pole vault at 4.28 meters (14-05) at Louisville's Clark Wood Invitational. The mark stands tied for 10th in the nation. She collected her third win of the outdoor season in the event and surpassed her previous best and school record of 4.27m (14-0) set on April 2 in the Louisville Invitational. Competing in his second 3000m Steeplechase of the 2021 outdoor season at the Clark Wood Invitational, Kosgei picked up his second gold medal with a time of 8:49.47 to lead the field of 15 competing in steady rain. The senior from Kenya, who tallied his fifth career win in the event, currently ranks 16th nationally.Â
