Cardinals will celebrate Senior Day
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis will close out its regular season by welcoming Butler for a 12 p.m match on Saturday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The meeting marks the first between the Cardinals and Bulldogs since 2015.
Â
The senior class of Nikolina Jovic and Raven Neely is set to be celebrated prior to the match for their contributions to the program throughout their time at Louisville. Jovic spent her freshman season at South Carolina before posting 19 singles wins and a Round of 16 finish at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals in her first season with the program. Building on her early success, the Bosnia native finished last year's shortened campaign with a 5-1 doubles record, including a pair of wins over ranked opponents. Despite battling injuries, Jovic has played at the No.1 spot in all but three matches this season.
Â
Neely has recorded 59 singles victories and a 42-24 doubles mark over the course of Louisville career. After earning First Team All-MAC honors as a freshman at Northern Illinois, Neely announced her arrival to the ACC by posting 20 plus wins in both singles and doubles action in her second season. Following this breakout campaign, Neely recorded a team-high 39 wins as a junior before notching a 12-3 doubles mark in last season's shortened schedule. The Grosse Pointe, Mich. native returned for her final season as motivated as ever, posting 11 singles wins and partnering with sophomore Tatiana Simova for a 12-6 record as the No.13 ranked doubles backcourt in the nation.
Â
Louisville enters its home finale with a 7-12, 3-10 ACC record, while Butler comes in at 4-8 after dropping their lone two conference matches last week. Freshman Natalie Boesing has made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs this season with 4-2 singles mark, exclusively from the top spot.
Â
Following Saturday's match, the Cardinals will prepare for the ACC Championships from Apr. 21-25 in Rome, Ga.Â
