
Cardinals Fall Short at Georgia Tech

Atlanta, Ga. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team dropped its road match against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 5-2, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Louisville falls to 9-9 (3-5, ACC) on the season while Georgia Tech improves to 11-8 (5-6, ACC).
In doubles, the Yellow Jackets and the Cardinals split courts one and three with Alex Wesbrooks and Kyle Tang defeating Zummy Bauer and Brandon McKinney 6-4 on court three. Fabien Salle and Matthew Fung stumbled late in their match, falling to Marcus McDaniel and Andres Martin 7-5 on court one.
The doubles point came down to court two. Tin Chen and Sergio Hernandez went back and forth with Brandon Freestone and Pablo Schelcher, eventually forcing an eight-point tiebreaker. The Yellow Jackets were able to pull off the victory 8-6.
Georgia Tech took the momentum into singles with Chen Dong taking down David Mizrahi 6-3, 6-3 on court six. Down 2-0 in the match, Salle got the Cardinals on the board with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Martin on court two.
The Yellow Jackets responded by taking court one, with Marcus McDaniel slipping past Tin Chen 6-1, 6-1, 6-4. Louisville's Hernandez cut Georgia Tech's lead with a 7-5, 7-5 win on court three.
The Yellow Jackets clinched the match on court five where McKinney defeated Fung 6-4, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker). Â Court four was played through with Keshav Chopra scoring the final point in the match with a 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Josh Howard-Tripp.
