March 06, 2021 | Men's Golf
Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team returns to action this weekend when the Cardinals travel to Dallas, Texas for the Trinity Forest Invitational.
The 54-hole event runs from Sunday to Tuesday at the par-71, 7,330 Trinity Forest Golf Club, which has served as the home for the SMU golf program since its competition in 2017. Â
Â
Hosted by No.14 SMU, the 14-team field includes Abilene Christian, Ball State, Florida Atlantic, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisville, Kansas City, Rice, TCU, Sam Houston State, No. 18 North Texas, UT Arlington, and UTSA. Florida won the inaugural tournament in 2017, while Baylor and Arizona State took home the past two titles. Â
Â
The lineup will be comprised of John Murphy, Trevor Johnson, Max Kennedy, Jiri Zuska, and Matthias Schmid.
Schmid, who was honored to compete in the PGA Arnold Palmer Invitational this week, leads the team with a 71.55 stroke average through three events this spring. Â
Â
Louisville will look to carry over the momentum from its four-place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. The Cardinals finished the event at 14-under after leading all participants in total pars. Schmid finished tied for third on the individual leaderboard, shooting seven-under with a tournament score of 68-71-70. He was one of three Cardinals who finished under-par, including top-20 cards from Murphy and Zuska.Â
Play will get underway at 8:30 a.m. on each day from holes one and 10. Louisville will tee off Friday at 9:20 a.m. and will be paired with TCU and host SMU. While spectators are still not allowed at the course, live scoring throughout the tournament can be followed on GolfStat.com. Â
