Cardinals Play Host to Butler in Wednesday Match, Hits the Road to Face Miami, Florida State

Louisville, Ky. – After traveling on the road last week, the University of Louisville men's tennis team will return to action Wednesday as they welcome the Butler Bulldogs to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for a 5 p.m. matchup. Following their contest against the Bulldogs, the Cardinals will travel to Fla. on Friday, March 26 to face ACC foe No. 50 Miami and Sunday March 28 against Florida State.
With Wednesday's match likely to take place outside, the UofL Athletic Department has released its attendance policy for outdoor matches.
BASS-RUDD TENNIS CENTER OUTDOOR ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance for outdoor matches at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center is restricted to mainly player and staff pass list. However, a very limited number of seats will be available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis. All fans are required to have their temperatures taken at the entrance, wear masks and practice social distancing. Safe seating areas in the bleachers will be clearly marked. Admittance to the indoor facility is not permitted. If the match is moved to the indoor facility, the attendance policy will revert to the previous guidelines for indoor matches that prohibit any outside spectators.Â

Scouting the Bulldogs: Butler enters Wednesday's double header against the Cardinals 3-3 on the season. After playing their first three matches of the season, the Bulldogs had six matches either cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of those matches was against Louisville. Butler is currently on a three-match winning streak, most recently defeating IUPUI 6-1. The Bulldogs return nine players from last season and are led by interim head coach Sam Miles.

The Hurricanes are led by No. 34 Adria Soriano Barrera and No. 64 Stefan Milicevic in singles. Bojan Jankulovski currently holds the team's best overall record in singles, posting a 6-2 record. In doubles, the No. 22 ranked duo of Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad led the team. The head coach of the Hurricanes is Aljosa Piric.

Scouting the Seminoles: Prior to their match against the Cardinals, Florida State (5-11, 0-6 ACC) will play conference foe Notre Dame on Friday, March 26. Currently, the Seminoles are on a six-match losing streak and are looking to bounce back after a 7-0 loss to in-state rival Florida. Florida State has two ranked players in singles with No. 77 Alex Knaff and No. 108 Rana-Roop Singh Bhular. The head coach of the Seminoles is Dwayne Hultquist, who enters his 22nd season.

- The Cardinals (5-7, 1-5 ACC) are looking to bounce back after dropping a non-conference match against Middle Tennessee 4-0 on March 12. Louisville's match-up against Tennessee last week was cancelled due to COVID-19 issues within the Volunteer's program.
- Juniors Sergio Hernandez and Fabien Salle each lead the team in singles with Hernandez holding an 8-3 overall record and Salle a 5-1 overall record.
- Hernandez and Tin Chen hold an impressive 5-2 record in doubles matches. The duo currently holds the team's best overall record in doubles.
- Tin Chen stands at the No. 71 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings and carries a 4-5 overall record as the Cardinals' No. 1 player.
