Louisville Post-Game Notes Versus Duke
- Louisville (13-7, 8-6 ACC) entered the ACC Tournament as the number seven seed. Â The Cardinals participated in its fifth Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, falling to 2-5 in the tournament after falling tonight to Duke 70-56.
- This was the second time the Cardinals have been a No. 7 seed in the ACC Tournament. Â In its last time as a No. 7 seed in 2019, the Cardinals beat Notre Dame in the Second Round before falling to North Carolina in the quarterfinals.
- Louisville trails 9-11 in its all-time series against Duke, with the Cardinals winning five of the last nine matchups after tonight's loss to the Blue Devils.
- UofL won the first two matchups this season, beating Duke 70-65 in Louisville (1-23-21) as Carlik Jones led the Cardinals with 24 points and five assists; and Louisville won 80-73 in overtime in Durham (2-27-21) as Jones scored 25 for UofL. Â
- After starting the game 6-of-23 from the field, the Cardinals closed the half by hitting 5-of-6 shots to close to within 30-29.
- Trailing 27-13 with 3:42 left in the first half, the Cardinals closed the half with a 16-3 run to trail 30-29 at the break.
- The Cardinals shot a season low 30.6 percent from the field, connecting on 19-of-63 field-goal attempts for the game.
- Louisville connected on less than 20 field goals for only the third time this season.
- After cutting the deficit to one-point at 30-29 at the half, the Cardinals made just 8-of-33 (24.2) field goal attempts in the second half.
- The Cardinals drilled 7-of-25 3-pointers, the most since they connected on seven in a win over Notre Dame on Feb. 23.
- UofL was outrebounded 43-39, marking only the seventh time all season that an opponent recorded more rebounds. Louisville fell to 2-5 when being outrebounded by the opposition.
- The Cardinals dropped to 0-5 this year when scoring 59 or fewer points in a game this year.
- Louisville turned the ball over just eight times and have only 11 miscues over the last two games.
PLAYER NOTES
- Guard David Johnson recorded his third career double-double with 14 points and equaled a career high with 11 rebounds. He also totaled 11 boards in a win over Pittsburgh on Dec. 22.
- The double-double was his first since registering 24 points and 10 rebounds versus Georgia Tech on Feb. 1.
- Forward Samuell Williamson grabbed eight rebounds in the loss to Duke – the seventh-straight time of grabbing eight or more rebounds in a game.
- The sophomore is averaging 10.9 rebounds during that seven-game span.
- After being held to a season low six points in a loss to Virginia on March 6, guard Carlik Jones responded with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists in the loss to Duke.
- The 13 points marked the 18th time at Louisville that the senior scored 10 or more points in a game and the 101st time in his collegiate career.
