LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville catcher Henry Davis was named to the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award watch list, released this week by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission.
Davis is one of 69 student-athletes on the initial watch list for the award, which will be narrowed down to the semifinalists on May 20. Ballots will be sent to the national voting committee at the end of May for a vote to determine the three finalists. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series. All finalists will be brought to Wichita and the winner will be announced at a date that is yet to be determined.
Davis is off to a strong start in 2021, hitting .381 through the first 12 games. Davis has at least one hit in all 12 games this season and leads the Cardinals in hits, home runs, RBIs and total bases.
The Bedford, N.Y., native has also been excellent behind the plate as well, throwing out 50 percent (4-of-8) of potential base stealers in 2021.
Davis and the Cardinals are back on the diamond on Friday for the first of three with Boston College. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
