Louisville is the highest-ranked ACC team of the nine from the conference in the poll.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the start of the 2021 season less than three weeks away, the University of Louisville baseball program garnered another top-10 ranking. The Cardinals were ranked sixth in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason poll released on Tuesday.
Louisville was the highest of nine ACC teams ranked in the poll, which ranks 35 teams.
Florida was voted into the top spot followed by UCLA, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Ole Miss and the Cardinals.
Dan McDonnell leads the Cardinals onto the diamond for his 15th season at the helm in 2021 looking to pick up where they left off when the 2020 campaign was cut short. Louisville was 13-4 overall and ranked second in the country heading into the second weekend of conference play.
The Cardinals return starters at six positions and 12 of 14 pitchers from the 2020 squad, in addition to welcoming back a pair of starters from the 2019 College World Series team that missed the majority of 2020 due to injury.
Louisville will open the season on Feb. 19 with the first of three against Bellarmine at Jim Patterson Stadium.
