CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team suffered its first conference loss of the season, falling 7-0 to No.1-ranked North Carolina on Friday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

Louisville moves to 5-3, 2-1 in the ACC. North Carolina improves to 11-0, 2-0 in conference matches.

The Cardinals dropped their first doubles point of the year Friday after taking seven straight to open the spring campaign. Louisville's Dina Chaika and Chelsea Sawyer fell 6-0 before North Carolina's top line of Sara Daavettila and Cameron Morra defeated Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma, 6-4, to clinch the 1-0Â lead. Cardinal's Raven Neely and Tatiana Simova briefly wrestled the momentum away from the Tar Heels after handling Makenna Jones and Elizabeth Scotty 6-2 loss at No.2. The pair remains undefeated, improving to 8-0 in doubles on the season.

North Carolina regained that momentum in singles, taking each court in straight sets to clinch the win. Tarheels' No.49 ranked Makenna Jones defeated Rhea Verma 6-0, 6-1 before Jelena Vujanic fell to No.120 Fiona Crawley 6-1, 6-0 at No.4. The match was clinched at No.3 in a two-set 6-4, 6-2 battle between Cardinals' Raven Neely and No.79 Elizabeth Scotty. The rest of the singles were played out with the home team taking each point.

Louisville will be back in action tomorrow when they head to Durham to face Duke at 2 p.m.
