February 26, 2021 | Women's Golf
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville's women's golf team continues its spring season Saturday when the Cardinals travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to face Western Kentucky in the Battle of the Bluegrass. The one-day event will be held at The Club at Olde Stone. Â
Â
Saturday will mark the seventh-straight time that Louisville has competed in the head-to-head match with the Hilltoppers. Last season, the Cardinals claimed their fifth Battle of the Bluegrass title in the last six years, defeating Western Kentucky 6.5-0.5. This is the third year of the one-point, match play format. Â
Â
Six individual matches are set to be played on Saturday morning, each featuring a pairing between the two schools in a two-ball format. Louisville will travel Lauren Hartlage, Mairead Martin, Hana Ryskova, Agustina Gomez-Cisterna, and Molly Lyne. Carly Haines will compete as an individual. Â
Â
After nearly a year without competition, the Cardinals opened their 2021 campaign at the Moon Golf Tournament on Feb. 14-16, where the program finished 10th in a field of 17 talented teams. Three Cardinals finished in the top 15 as Martin, Hartlage, and Ryskova each tied for 13th at 1-under-par 215. Â
Â
Following the conclusion of this weekend's match, the Cardinals will head to the Valspar Invitational in Augusta, Ga. from March 13-14. Â
