Murphy Fires a 3-Under-Par Second Round at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – John Murphy of the University of Louisville men's golf team shot a 3-under-par to lead the Cardinals into a fourth-place tie after two rounds of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Monday in Mobile, Ala.
The Cardinals carded a 3-under-par 285 to slip into a tie for fourth place with Indiana. Illinois continues to pace the field after shooting a 12-under-par to own an 11-shot lead over Kent State and a 14-shot advantage over UAB.
The Cardinals enter Tuesday's final round 15 shots off the lead. The Cardinals begin the third round at 11 a.m. pairing with Davidson, Kansas State and Toledo. Louisville opened with an 8-under-par 288 on Sunday to open in third place.
Murphy carded a 69 to pair with his first round of 70 to move into a fifth-place tie with teammate Matthias Schmid, who shot a 2-under-par 70. Murphy recorded three birdies on the front nine, but was hurt by a bogey on No.4. He added one birdie on the back with no bogeys, while Schmid recorded three birdies.
Jiri Zuska was the third player under par after firing a 1-under-par 71 to move into a tie for 13th place, while Max Kennedy shot a 75 after registering an even-par round of 72 on Sunday.
Trevor Johnson added a 74 to slip into a tie for 54th entering Tuesday's round.
