Cardinals Stand in Third Place After First Round at the Mobile Bay

LOUISVILLE- Matthias Schmid carded a 68 to lead the University of Louisville Men's Golf Team to third place after the first round of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Sunday.

As a team, the Cardinals shot an 8-under-par 280 to sit in second place after the first 18 holes. Illinois takes the lead into the Clubhouse, six shots ahead of UofL. Kent State is in second place just one shot in front of the Cardinals.

A senior, Schmid stands in a tie for fourth place after recording four birdies and not registering a bogey in the first 18 holes.

Senior John Murphy and junior Jiri Zuska are tied for eighth after shooting first-round scores of 70. The duo combined for seven birdies in the morning round, with Murphy recording four.

Playing in his first tournament, Max Kennedy shot an even-par 72, while senior Trevor Johnson shot a 3-over-par 75.
