Cardinals Alter Course; Ready to Compete in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's golf program will compete at the 2021 Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course in Mobile, Ala., on Sunday-Tuesday.
The three-day tournament with 15 teams in the field will begin on Sunday morning at 7:50 a.m. The Cardinals will go off with the first group at 7:50 a.m. are paired with UAB and Indiana. The Blazers enter the tournament as the No. 5 team in the recent rankings.
The Cardinals were originally scheduled to compete at the All-American Invitational in Houston, Texas, but the tournament was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Cardinals, who have been off since Jan. 27, will send four seniors and a freshman to the tournament this weekend. Matthias Schmid, John Murphy, Jiri Zuska, Trevor Johnson, and Max Kennedy will compete in the this weekend's match. Kennedy, a true freshman from Dublin, Ireland, will make his UofL debut on Sunday morning.
In its last event, Louisville shot a 306 in the final round to finish at 21-over-par at the Southwestern Invitational, which was three shots behind third place SMU and eight shots in back of Arizona State. Louisville carded a 296-283-306=885 during the three-day event.
Schmid was in contention for a tournament title, but shot a 77 in the final round to finish in a tie for third place, He finished 10 shots off the lead after shooting 71-68-77=216. He opened the round three shots behind the leader but carded a 5-over-par on the final nine holes.
Murphy tied for 16th overall after his three-day totals of 75-72-75=222, while Johnson tied for 22nd after shooting 79-68-78=225.
