LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville will play its third of four straight at home in the KFC Yum! Center and its third game in seven days as the Cardinals face the Navy Midshipmen on Monday a 8 p.m. ET.
Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and hygiene products to take part in a food drive, hosted by Kroger, at Monday's game. All items will be donated to the Commonwealth Credit Union Cardinal Cupboard. Â Collection bins will be placed outside of the lobby doors of the KFC Yum! Center.
Louisville (1-1) fell 80-72 in overtime to Furman on Friday as Noah Locke's 20 points paced the Cardinals. Â Malik Williams produced his second double-digit rebounding effort of the season in as many games with 10 against Furman after pulling down 13 against Southern.Â
Noah Locke enters Monday's game needing 31 points to reach 1,000 career points after scoring 933 points in three seasons at Florida and 36 in the Cardinals' first two games. Locke's 16 points against Southern is tied for the 11th most scored in a UofL debut. Â He led UofL with 20 points vs. Furman, his fourth collegiate game with 20 or more points.
Mason Faulkner contributed seven assists, six points, five rebounds and two steals against Furman without a turnover. Â He had 28 games with at least six assists in his two seasons at Western Carolina prior to Louisville.
Louisville is the Midshipmen's third straight ACC team to open this season, as Navy beat No. 25 Virginia 66-58 in its opener before falling 77-57 to Virginia Tech on Nov. 12 when forward Tyler Nelson led Navy with 15 points.
In the only previous meeting between Louisville and Navy, the Cardinals prevailed 68-52 on Dec. 18, 1972 in Freedom Hall as Allen Murphy scored 19 points to lead UofL.
Navy, predicted to finish third in the preseason Patriot League poll behind Boston University and Colgate, returns four starters and 19 players from last year's team that posted a 15-3 overall record and 12-1 Patriot League record, winning the league south division. Â
