Zuska, Grieve Tied for the Lead at the Bank of Tennessee

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Led by Jiri Zuska and Pierce Grieve each firing a 4-under 68, the University of Louisville men's golf team and the UofL duo are tied for the lead following opening round play at the 2021 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, which got underway Sunday from the Blackthorn Club at The Ridges.
Louisville, which are the defending champions, are tied atop the leaderboard with East Tennessee State after both squads shot an 11-under-par 277 in round one.
Louisville and ETSU have a three-shot lead over Charlotte, while College of Charleston is in fourth at 6-under 282 and Virginia Tech rounded out the top five at 5-under-par 283. Overall, 11 of the 15 teams finished below par on Sunday.
The Cardinals have four golfers (one individual) in the top-15, with Zuska being one of eight players in the 93-man field tied for the lead.
Zuska, who has posted back-to-back top-10 finishes, recorded five birdies on the day to help the Cardinals tie for the lead, while Grieve recorded four birdies to tie his best round of his brief career.
Max Kennedy is tied for ninth overall over his round of 69 on Monday after registering four birdies and just one bogey. Playing as an individual, Walker Franklin is tied for 15th after shooting a 2-under-par 70, Nick Tenuta is tied for 38th with an even-par 72. Chris Francoeur is tied for 79th after firing a 76.
Monday's second round action gets underway at 8:30 a.m., while the Cards will go out at 10 a.m. Louisville will be grouped with ETSU and Charlotte.
