"This is a rare opportunity for us to have a midweek track and field competition," said UofL head coach Dale Cowper. "Our teams are excited for the first scored competition of the indoor season and we look forward to competing with Notre Dame and Pittsburgh tomorrow in South Bend."
Â
The midweek meet presents a quick turnaround for Louisville after competing in the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Virginia last weekend. The Cardinals turned in some impressive performances with three event wins and 14 personal bests.
Â
For the men, Sterling Warner-Savage won the 60m dash with a time of 6.69, a week after setting the school record in the same event at Kentucky's McCravy- Green Invitational with a time of 6.65 which still stands as the sixth-best in the nation in the young indoor season. Junior Adar Sheere posted his second straight win in the weight throw with his personal best toss of 19.88 (65-2.75). Junior Micah Oberhausen took second in the men's heptathlon with a new personal best score of 5,248 which currently stand at third among the nation's top Division I performances this year. Â
Â
On the women's side, senior Makenli Forrest earned her second straight win of the season in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 20.81m (68-0.5) which currently stands ninth among Division I leaders this season. Freshman Kiyah Yeast took second on the 200m with a personal best time of 24.55.
Â
Following this weekend's meet, the Cardinals will return to action on February 5-6 when they head back to Blacksburg, Virginia for the Doc Hale Elite Meet.
