The Excellence in Communications Award recognizes those athletics communications representatives at conferences and/or schools who have committed to outstanding coverage and support of collegiate cross country. Winners were selected by the USTFCCCA Communications Staff after a nomination period.
Â
Uhl recently completed her second year as a graduate assistant for UofL's cross country and track and field programs. In that role, managed and provided daily content including photos, videos and graphics for the programs' social media accounts. Through her efforts, she helped increase daily impressions and engagement which continued even after the 2020 season was cut short due to the spread of COVID-19.
Â
"Natalie built relationships with our student-athletes, coaches and support staff to always bring the most personal coverage possible, while understanding and displaying the program's overarching narrative," UofL assistant coach Brooke Rasnick wrote in Uhl's nomination. "She displayed wisdom in her professional interactions and had an uncanny ability of never losing sight of the big picture while working on the minute details in front of her."
Â
The former thrower competed for the Cardinals as a junior and senior after transferring from Western Kentucky and earned her bachelor's degree in communications in 2018. She completed her master's degree in communications in May 2020.
