The Sellersburg, Ind., native hit .444 while splitting time at second base.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville infielder Tim Borden II earned recognition for his strong effort during the shortened 2020 season, as he was named to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's freshman All-America team.
Borden is the 18th student-athlete in program history to earn freshman All-America honors and the 15th under Dan McDonnell. The Cardinals have had a freshman All-American in each of the last four seasons.
After sitting out the 2019 season, Borden saw the field for the first time in 2020 platooning at second base. The Sellersburg, Ind., native made the most of his opportunities, hitting .444 with a pair of doubles, a home run, nine RBIs and nine runs scored.
Borden drove in multiple runs in three contests and came off the bench as a pinch hitter for his first collegiate long ball against Western Michigan on March 1. He also collected at least one hit in seven of his eight starts.
Louisville was 13-4 through 17 games during the shortened season and ranked as high as No. 2 when the season came to a close.
