LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville senior Danny Oriente was named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team, released on Thursday.
Oriente completed his undergraduate degree this spring, holding a 3.56 grade point average and majoring in sport administration.
Oriente is Louisville baseball's first Academic All-District selection since Colby Fitch in 2017 and its fifth dating back to 2002.
A three-year starter for the Cardinals, Oriente holds a .324 batting average across 137 career games. The Downers Grove, Ill., native hit a team-best .332 in 2019 while helping Louisville to its fifth College World Series appearance, and was second on the team with 16 RBIs during the shortened 2020 campaign that saw the Cardinals post a 13-4 mark.
The 2020 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 8-11.
