
Forrest Honored at Louies Student-Athlete Awards Show

Makenli Forrest was named the University of Louisville Female Sophomore Athlete of the Year for her results in the 2019 season as the athletics department celebrated the successes of its student-athletes and teams in a virtual broadcast of the seventh-annual Louies Student-Athlete Awards Show Thursday evening.
As a sophomore, Forrest (Ellenwood, Ga.) double-qualified for the NCAA outdoor championship in the hammer throw and discus, making three NCAA Championship appearances during her sophomore campaign, which included an NCAA runner-up finish in the weight throw. Forrest also earned second team All-ACC honors in the weight throw.
The award is given annually to a male and female sophomore student-athlete nominated for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, exuberance for sport, devotion to UofL, commitment to community service, and dedication to excellence in their sport.
