
Pastor Named UofL's Female Junior of the Year

Mercedes Pastor was recently named the University of Louisville Female Junior Athlete of the Year as the athletics department celebrated the successes of its student-athletes and teams in a virtual broadcast of the seventh-annual Louies Student-Athlete Awards Show Thursday evening.

The award is given annually to a junior female and male student-athlete nominated for exemplifying the characteristics of leadership, exuberance for sport, devotion to UofL, commitment to community service, and dedication to excellence in their sport.

Pastor, was one of four finalists for the Class of 2020 Honda Sport Award for Field Hockey. During her junior season, the midfielder from Buenos, Aires, Argentina posted a career-best nine goals and 22 points while helping the Cardinals reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. She was a Longstreth/NFHCA All-America First Team and All-West Region Team selection and was named to the All-ACC first team and ACC All-Tournament team.
