
Murphy, Schmid Named to PING All-America Honorable Mention Team

John Murphy and Matthias Schmid were named to the PING All-American team.
NORMAN, Okla. – John Murphy and Matthias Schmid of the University of Louisville men's golf team have been named to the 2020 NCAA Division I PING All-America Honorable Mention Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced on Friday.
Murphy, a two-time All-Region selection, recorded his first two career wins in 2019-20, capturing the Bearcat Invitational and the Dorado Beach Invitational. Murphy posted the team's top stroke average at 69.59, with four other top-five finishes and three in the top 10.
A second-team honoree last year, Schmid is considered one of the top players in the country. The preseason All-American posted the second-best stroke average on the team at 69.91, which also ranked in the top 25 nationally. The native of Germany finished a season best second at the Bearcat Invitational and recorded five other finishes in the top five.
