Forrest and Leon Qualify for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. Louisville's Makenli Forrest and Gabriela Leon earned a spot among the 2020 participants with marks ranked in the top 16 nationally this season.Â
The championships, hosted by the University of New Mexico, will be held March 13 and 14 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Both Forrest and Leon will compete on Saturday, March 14. Leon will compete in the pole vault at 6:00 p.m. while Forrest will compete in the weight throw at 6:30 p.m.Â
Leon's school record mark of 4.40m at the ACC Championships ranks 11th in the nation heading into next week's championship. Forrest's throw of 22.11m at the Tyson Invitational earlier this month also ranks 11th in the nation.Â
ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 7:15 p.m. Eastern time March 13 and starting at 6 p.m. Eastern time March 14. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 9 p.m. Eastern time Monday, March 16 on ESPNU.
