Cardinals Produce Solid Performances at Three Meets on Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up a full day of competition at three different meets on Friday. Â Â

TYSON INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Â
The meet was highlighted by Kayla Alexander's record-breaking performance in the 60m hurdles. Her time of 8.37 eclipsed her own UofL program mark of 8.40, which she set at the Gene Edmonds Memorial meet this past January.

Makenli Forrest led from the first round in the weight throw and her winning throw of 22.11m/72-6.50 came in the fourth round. Her teammate Halee Hudson threw a personal-best 20.59m/67-6.75 to finish second.

Jeremiah Willis' third-round effort of 7.48m/24-6.50 was far enough to earn him the runner-up spot in the long jump. Sterling Warner posted a time of 6.77 during prelims of the 60m dash, just shy of his personal record of 6.73.

HOOSIER HILLS INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Lindsey Fanz won the women's 800m by nearly five seconds in 2:16.31, breaking her previous indoor personal best by over two seconds. Caroline Gosser was the lone Cardinal in the women's 3000m, finishing sixth overall in 10:07.46.

Clay Moss placed seventh in the 600m with a new indoor-best time of 1:29.14 and was followed closely by Aaron Johnson's seventh-place showing of 1:29.63. Johnson also placed fifth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.30.

Micah Oberhausen jumped 6.82m/22-4.50 to place third in the long jump and threw 14.54m/47-8.50 to finish eighth in the shot put, achieving new personal records in both events.

MUSIC CITY CHALLENGE HIGHLIGHTS
Â
Dorcas Wasike ran her first 5000 meters of the season to lead the Cardinals with a fourth place finish. Wasike finished with a time of 16.10.91. Bailey Beery finished 10th while Ivine Chemutai finished 11th  with times of 16:35.38 and 16:40.70, respectively. Â
