The Cardinals Hit the Road for the Final Time versus Boston College
November 27, 2020 | Football
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville closes out its road schedule with a visit to Boston College on Saturday at 4 p.m. The game will be televised on the ACC Network.
The Cardinals will look for their second-straight win after a 30-0 victory over Syracuse last Friday night -- the first shutout over a Power 5 program since 2004. The Orange was limited to 137 yards of total offense and turned the football over three times.
Facing a Boston College team, the Cardinals will see a different type of team than they are used to playing. Known for a physical, run the football type of offense, the Eagles are throwing the ball around the field this season Notre Dame transfer Phil Jurkovec standing under center. He's thrown for 2,355 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, leading BC to a 5-4 mark.
When you look at them on the offensive side, it's a little bit different.," head coach Scott Satterfield said. "It's a change of pace compared to last year. As I mentioned earlier, last year, they were running that football. They didn't care how many guys were in the box, they were still going to run it. Their offensive line is a lot of the same guys, and they're very good up front. But I think with the quarterback this year, he's put up some of the best numbers out there this year, and when he's on target, he's one of the better quarterbacks out there. He's got good size, and he's accurate, got a good arm."
"I mentioned Hunter Long, one of the best tight ends in the country. As a receiving tight end, he's outstanding. It doesn't matter who he's matched up against, he's a tough matchup for defenses the way he utilizes his body and has great hands. And then Zay Flowers is a speed guy, utilizing a lot of speed sweeps. He can run verticals, double moves, and just catch the hits on the outside and take it up the field for a lot of yards. So I think they utilize their weapons very well offensively, it's just a different approach. It's not the way they used to do it in the past, with running the football as much as they did. Now they kind of dabble in the run, but they're throwing the football and getting it in the hands of the play makers on the outside."
The Cardinals bring the No. 9 pass defense into the game after limiting Syracuse to fewer than 100 yards through the air last week. Led by an experienced secondary, the Cardinals are yielding 178.9 yards through the air. are
"We are doing a good job of playing the football," Satterfield said. "It's been great to see these guys have some success, especially with us missing a number of players over the last couple of games. However, we were able to get everyone back against Syracuse, We will have to be at our best against a good BC team."
Offensively, the Cardinals will try to attack a Boston College team that is always physical and extremely well coached.

"When you first turn the film on, very aggressive defense," Satterfield said. "They play hard, they play fast. No. 55 and No. 14 are two linebackers I think that make the most plays in their defense. Their defensive line is active, not overly huge up front but they make a lot of movement, they really utilize their hands well, and their speed and their quickness. They free up those two linebackers 55 and 14, and I think this year compared to last year, they play a lot more man in the back end. They're trying to lock up guys, putting pressure on quarterbacks, getting the ball out of his hands quickly. And it's really shown. You go back to last year, we had a pretty good day offensively against them. On defense, I think it's a completely different defense this year. A lot of the same players, but the scheme and the way they're approaching it is a lot different. I think that's why they've had a huge improvement this year."
The Cardinals are looking for their second-straight win over the Eagles after a 41-39 victory at home, snapping a nine-game losing streak in conference play.
