Women's Indoor Track and Field Earns No. 20 Preseason Ranking

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Louisville women's track and field team was ranked 20th in preseason edition of the USTFCCCA Indoor Team Rankings, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Cardinal women were previously ranked No. 19 on Jan. 22, 2019.

The Cardinals will open the 2020 Indoor season at the Gene Edmunds Cup in Lafayette, Ind.

Louisville has six athletes ranked in the Top 30 nationally. Makenli Forrest is has the highest ranking at third in the weight throw and Dorcas Wasike is ranked fifth in the 5,000 meters. Gabriela Leon and Alexis Gibbons round out the athletes ranked in the Top 15 with an No. 11 ranking for Leon in the pole vault and a No. 13 ranking for Gibbons in the long jump. Renate von Tonder is ranked 26^th in the long jump while Halee Hudson is ranked 28^th in the weight throw.

The next National TFRI will be released on Monday, January 27 and will continue all season long until the 2020 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held on March 13-14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
