Cardinals Set to Host Furman and Lipscomb

UofL hopes to stay unbeaten at the Bass Rudd Tennis
Louisville, Ky - The University of Louisville women's tennis team will be back in action this Friday, Jan. 31 and Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Friday match against Lipscomb will begin at 4 p.m. and the Sunday match against Furman will begin at 12 p.m.

About Louisville women's tennis:

The Cardinals are coming off three wins last week, including a doubleheader sweep over Southeast Missouri State. Louisville is off to a 5-0 start to their 2020 season. The Cardinals impressed by defeating Ball State 5-2 on the road and not losing a point in either match against SEMO.

Scouting the Opponent:

Lipscomb is off to an 0-2 start to their 2020 campaign. The Bison finished 2019 with a 17-6 record. Lipscomb is led by junior Kate Popova, who was a first team Atlantic Sun all-conference member in 2019. She was the 2018 ASUN Freshman of the year. The Bison are coached by Jamie Aid who is in her fourth season at the helm. She has led the Bison to qualify for the ASUN tournament in each of her first three seasons as coach.

Furman is off to a 3-3 start to their 2020 season. The Paladins finished 2019 with a 26-2 record and Southern Conference Tournament Champions. The Paladins are led by senior Katarina Kozarov who is a two-time defending Southern Conference Player of the Year. Sophomore Julia Adams was the 2019 Southern Conference freshman of the year and sophomore Eva Borders is a Louisville, Kentucky native who posted a perfect 4-0 singles record in 2019.
