Gabriela Leon Earns ACC Weekly Honor

Leon is named ACC Women's Indoor Field Performer of the Week
GREENSBORO, N.C.– Louisville's Gabriela Leon has been selected as an Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for January 15. Leon was named the Women's Field Performer of the Week, earning her first ACC weekly honor.
Leon earned weekly honors along with three Florida State athletes; Trey Cunningham, Men's Track Performer of the Week, Isaac Grimes, Men's Field Performer of the Week and Jayla Kirkland, Women's Track Performer of the Week. All four athletes on this week's list posted times or marks that ranked among the nation's top two in their respective events.
Leon helped lead the Cardinals in the season opener at the Gene Edmunds Memorial, where she posted two of the team's 10 wins. The junior started off her opening meet with a win in the pole vault, clearing 4.25m/13-11 for a decisive first-place finish. She immediately turned her attention to the long jump, where she snagged her second win of the day with her final jump of 6.04m/19-9. Her pole vault mark is currently tied for second in the nation, while her long jump mark stands 18th.
