Cards Travel to Kentucky for Fall Doubleheader Saturday

Cards and Wildcats will meet in a fall doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. Saturday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team will hit the road for Lexington, Ky., where the Cards will take on in-state rival Kentucky in a doubleheader Saturday at 12 p.m.

UofL swept Bellarmine University in a doubleheader, taking the first game 9-4 winning the second 8-0. In that series, senior Caitlin Ferguson had three hits and scored a team-best four runs while junior transfer Carmyn Greenwood also tallied three hits and two RBIs. Juniors Riley Schindler and Danielle Watson each had a home run and drove in four runs – Watson's RBI total came courtesy of a grand slam. Redshirt sophomore Taylor Roby also delivered a home run and three RBIs.
Watson and Roby each picked up a win with freshmen Payton Hudson and Taja Felder also contributing in the circle.

The Cards will wrap up fall competition on October 6 when Indiana visits Don Dobina Field at Ulmer Stadium for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

In 2019, the Cardinals posted a 35-23 overall record and a 12-12 mark in ACC play for a third place finish in the league's Atlantic Division and fifth in the overall conference standings. Louisville several milestones in head coach Holly Aprile's first season at the helm, highlighted by the 14th NCAA appearance and sixth regional final as the Cardinals completed their 20th year as a program.
