Louisville moves up four spots
The University of Louisville field hockey team has moved up four spots to No. 8 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association preseason poll released on September 10.

About Louisville
The Cardinals (5-0) are coming off of a pair of wins in East Lansing, Mich. After opening their road trip with a 4-1 win over host Michigan State Sunday, they followed with a 2-1 overtime victory against UC Davis Monday. Louisville has outscored its opponents 16-4 with two shutouts on the season.

• Bethany Russ leads the team with six goals and 13 points. The senior forward notched her first career hat trick in the 5-0 win over Indiana and scored a pair of goals in the 4-2 victory against Kent State. Most recently, her goal in overtime lifted the Cards to a 2-1 win over UC Davis.

Louisville in the NFHCA Rankings
• This marks the 66th straight week Louisville has appeared among the top 20 in the nation dating back to the 2013 season.
• Louisville appeared in the top 10 seven times in 2018 after debuting at No. 8 in the preseason poll, the highest preseason ranking in program history.
• In 2017 Louisville appeared in the top 10 six times, reaching as high as No. 7 on Oct. 17, 2017.
• On Oct. 7, 2014, Louisville appeared at No. 5 in the coaches' poll marking the second top-five appearance in program history with Louisville achieving a program-best No. 4 ranking in the 2002 season.

Tough Slate
• UofL will travel to Columbus, Ohio to face No. 11 Ohio State in the first of three straight road contests against top 20 teams. Following that, they will travel to No. 1 North Carolina and No. 19 Boston College.
• All seven ACC teams appear in the NFHCA's top 25 with defending national champion North Carolina holding down the top spot and Duke standing at No. 2. Ten of Louisville's 13 remaining opponents appear in the top 25 with four of those ranked in the top 10.
