No. 25-ranked Cardinals Set to Host Cardinal Classic

Red Out When Cards face No. 10 Florida in season home opener
The No. 25-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team will play host to the Cardinal Classic this weekend and will welcome No. 10 Florida, Dayton and Texas A&M to L&N Federal Credit Union Arena this Friday and Saturday.
Dayton and Texas A&M will kick off the Classic with a 4:30 match on Sept. 30, followed by the Cardinals taking on the Florida Gators in a match-up of ranked squads that will be the first ever volleyball match aired on the newly launched ACC Network.
On Saturday, Florida takes on Dayton at 4:30 with Louisville facing Texas A&M at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals and the Flyers will meet up on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for the final match of the Classic. Â Â
Louisville
The Cardinals home slate includes 15 matches against teams that were nationally ranked in 2018, as well as 11 matches against teams that earned an NCAA Tournament berth last season. The Cardinals posted a 22-9 record in the 2018 season and made their 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. UofL is led by returning HM All-American Melanie McHenry as well as starters Emily Scott and Piper Roe, a member of the US Collegiate National Team. The season will highlight one of the best Cardinal recruiting classes in recent memory. The 2019 UofL volleyball recruiting class was ranked No. 16 in the nation, the highest ranked class in the ACC and the highest ranking Cardinal class since 2006. The ranking was announced by PrepVolleyball.com, where a panel of college coaches from across the country and representing all three NCAA women's volleyball divisions determines the top list of classes.
 Dayton
The Flyers return four starters plus their libero from a team that finished 23-8 last season with a second place regular season finish and Atlantic-10 tournament champions. The Flyers are the pre-season picks to win the A-10 this season, despite losing three seniors. Dayton picked up right where it left off the previous season, winning 12 of 14 league games in the Atlantic 10. The Flyers advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in five years in 2018. The last meeting between these teams, was last season during the NCAA Tournament first round where Louisville defeated Dayton 3-0.
Florida
The Gators return four starters including their libero from a team who finished with a 26-7 record and a Sweet Sixteen finish in the NCAA Tournament. After winning the SEC in 2016 and 2017, the Gators are predicted to finish second in the SEC. Florida is ranked in the pre-season top 10 in the county to start the season following a strong 2018. Advancing in the NCAA Tournament by defeating Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast, before falling to BYU. The last meeting between these teams was in the Bubly Inventional where they defeated Louisville by a final of 3-1 in 2018.
Texas A&M
The Aggies return four starters plus their libero from a team who finished with a 17-13 record in 2018. Improving from a 10-15 finish in 2017, the Aggies are on a positive path after closing out the 2018 season on a four-game winning streak and boasting an undefeated 5-0 record at neutral sites. Texas A&M will look to rally behind first team All-SEC selection Hollann Hans.This is the first meeting between these two teams since 2003, where the Aggies defeated the Cardinals 3-1.
