Cardinals Wrap Up Day One at the NCAA Outdoor Championships

Albert Kosgei earns All-American honors and Martice Moore qualifies for the 400m hurdle finals
AUSTIN, Texas – Albert Kosgei and Martice Moore kicked off the first day of action at the NCAA Track and Field Championships on Wednesday at Mike. A Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Albert Kosgei finished 15th in the 3,000m steeplechase in his NCAA Championship debut. Despite falling with three laps left, Kosegi finished with a time of with a time of 8:58.76. The junior earned second team All-American honors.
Kosegi wraps up an impressive season on the track. He was the ACC runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:46.72. He then ran a personal best time of 8:38.90 at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds to finish seventh and qualify for his first NCAA Championship.
Martice Moore finished second in the first heat of the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.59, automatically qualifying for the finals. The top two finishers from each heat advanced to the finals along with the next two best times to make up the eight person final on Friday. Moore will compete for an NCAA title on Friday at 8:57 p.m.
Makenli Forrest, Gabriela Leon and Ivine Chemutai will compete tomorrow beginning at 4:30 p.m. The meet will be live streamed on ESPN2, ESPN3, and ESPNU.
