Cardinals Wrap Up Day One of the ACC Outdoor Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville track and field team wrapped up the first day of the ACC Outdoor Championships with two All-ACC honorees. Aaron Johnson and Dominic McClinton rank in the top three of the decathlon after five events.
Johnson sits in the top spot of the decathlon with 3,683 points. He set new personal best marks in the long jump with a leap of 6.75m/22-01.75 (-0.6), and in the 400m with a time of 51.55. McClinton currently ranks third in the decathlon with 3,644 points. He also set a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 6.84m/22-05.25 (+1.1) and clocked a 51.27 in the 400m.
Holly Hankenson finished the first day of the heptathlon in fourth place with 3,173 points. The senior finished third in the 100m hurdles and the shot put on the first day of action.
In the 400m hurdles, Martice Moore finished first in the preliminary round with a time of 51.39, moving on to the finals on Saturday.
Ivine Chemutai and Alexis Gibbons scored points on the women's side. Chemutai recorded a personal best time of 34:27.39 in the 10,000m for sixth place, earning All-ACC second team honors. Gibbons led the way in long jump, finishing fifth place with a leap of 6.18m/20-03.50 (+1.0) to earn All-ACC second team honors.
The ACC Championships will continue tomorrow beginning at 3:30 p.m. with the men's shot put.
