
Mens Golf Finishes Eighth at ACC Championship

The Cardinals shot a 6-under-par 282 on Saturday to move up to eighth.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's golf team fired a 6-under-par on Saturday to finish eighth at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at the Old North Slate Club in New London, N.C.
After play was postponed on Friday, the teams returned to the course, and the Cardinals posted the fourth-best score on the day, but couldn't make a big jump up the leaderboard after starting the day in 10th place. Georgia Tech won the title at 37-under-par, while Virginia was second at 22-under-par and Duke was third at 12-under-par.
For the tournament, the Cardinals finished at a solid 3-under-par, shooting 286-293-282=861. It was the best finish after placing 11th at the last two championships.
Devin Morley fired the lowest round of the day by carding a 5-under-par 67 to finish in a tie for 24th. Entering the final round at 4-over-par, Morley carded six birdies and just one bogey. He scored on three holes on the front and three on the back.
Jiri Zuska tied for 29th place after he shot an even-par 72 on Saturday. He  opened play with a 71 and 74 on Friday. John Murphy carded a 76-71-71=218 to finish at 2-over-par for the weekend.
Trevor Johnson tied for 36th overall after shooting a 77-70-72=219, while Matthias Schmid, one of the top players in the league, finished at 8-over-par. He opened play with a 69 on Friday, but went 11-over-par in the next two rounds to end play in a tie for 52nd.
The Cardinals await their postseason fate when the NCAA Regional pairings will be revealed on May 1. Louisville will host a regional for the first time in school history on May 13-15 at the University of Louisville Golf Club.
